Measurements

The easiest thing to do is send us an old hair system that fits properly. We will use the same base measurement and return it with your new system. If that is not an option, then either take a measurement or create a tape template.

For men:
(A) Place three to four fingers above the eyebrows and mark with a pen dot. This is the beginning of the natural hairline.

(B) Measure from that point backwards to the beginning of the present hairline. For extended wear users measure 1/4 - 1/2 inches further back into the present hairline so system will be large enough to attach to your own hair.

(C) Measure from the beginning hairline (side-to-side) across top of the head. For extended wear users measure 1/4 - 1/2 inch further down each side of the present hairline so system will be large enough to attach to your own hair.

For women:

Side measurement is done like men's above, however, front to back may be different. Because women typically thin in front but don't recede like men do, it is wise to use the natural bang and add hair behind it. Start your measurement about one inch behind natural front hairline, going over the top to back as far as it needs to cover the thin area. (Some men may choose to do this technique also). If hair is VERY thin in front, use the men's measurement method as stated above.

Before purchasing a stock lace front wig, you should measure your head to ensure a good fit.
Follow the template below when taking your measurements.

Please Note: the measurements of the lace wig you are purchasing should be no more or
less than 1/4 to 1/2 inch difference than the measurements of your head.

How to make a Template

Since the key to the success of a hair replacement system is its fit, the base must correspond to the head shape and original hairline recession. Making a tape template of the head, which can be seen through and drawn upon, is an ideal way to develop a pattern for such a base and to make the proper hair system.

Place an 18-inch square of clear plastic wrap so that it covers the top portion of the head. After pressing the wrap close to the head, use tape to contour the head shape. Beginning at the forehead, place transparent tape on the wrap over what will become the outer perimeters of the pattern.

The areas of baldness determine these outer perimeters.
After you have taped the boundaries, cover the inner portion of the plastic wrap with overlapping pieces of tape.
Apply 3 layers of tape.
The tape will lock the plastic wrap into a permanent transparent tape template.

Hair System Pattern

Using a permanent marker, draw pattern lines on the tape template while it is still on your head. Though requirements vary from person to person, some rules of thumb apply. The front hairline should usually be established by placing 3 or 4 of your fingers above the brow line. Lines are drawn from that point to form a pattern, which covers the bald area. Deeper recessions look most natural.

After the entire outer perimeter of the pattern is drawn, the desired style should be indicated.
If a part is desired, draw a line from a pivot point at back crown to the front hairline. Placement of the pivot point should correspond to what can be seen of your original growth.

Indicate the growth pattern on the tape template, the date the tape template is made, as well as other pertinent information concerning your hairpiece.
After you have finished marking the tape template, add one more layer of tape (now 4) to cover and seal in the markings. Since the average life of a hairpiece is 12 to 18 months, good record keeping is advisable to keep the hair piece current.
Remove the tape template from your head and trim the excess plastic wrap.

Curl Size

Curl size in millimeters is determined by professional perm rod used. Refer to the list below .

    2 mm. - Nappy Afro                               15 mm. - Loose Curl - Strong Wave
    4 mm. - Regular Afro                             22 mm. - Medium Wave
    8 mm. - Loose Afro                                25 mm. - Light Wave
10 mm. - Tight Curly                                30 mm. - Soft Movement
13 mm. - Medium Curl - Tight Wave      40 mm. - Straight

Hair Density

Extra light density is 60% thickness of an average head of hair.
Light density is 80% thickness of an average head of hair.
Light to medium density is considered 90% thickness of an average head of hair.
Medium density is considered 100% thickness of an average head of hair. (This is thick).
Medium to heavy density is considered 120% thickness of an average head of hair. (This is very thick.)
Heavy density is 150% thickness of an average head of hair. (This is very, very thick).
